Papercutting class TEC.jpg

During this one-hour zoom class with Temple Etz Chaimyou will learn the history of Jewish papercutting, tour Jeanette's Judaic art studio, and create a papercut work of art. After registering, you will receive a link and password to the zoom class and the papercut pattern we will be working on during the workshop. The class is appropriate for any age person who is comfortable with a sharp knife (not young children). You only need to register one person per home.

Supply List for Papercutting Workshop

  1. Printout of the 8.5" x 11" pattern Jeanette will send to you after you register. Print the pdf on your home printer with your regular paper.

  2. #11 Hobby Knife and Blade. It does not have to be a name brand, but it should have a #11 blade. They can be purchased at Amazon, Staples, Target, Wal-Mart, and at most hardware stores.

  3. Piece of cardboard to put under your papercut while you are cutting (or a self-healing mat used for cutting fabric and paper). Cardboard should be thick enough to protect the surface of your table from the blade. Papercutting Kits are available and include a self-healing mat and all the supplies for the workshop.

  4. Glue stick or Elmer's glue.

  5. Backing paper (any color you like) to go behind your finished papercut. Colored papers are available at the stores listed above. Jeanette will talk about background options during class.
